If you ask Jam Lachica, 12, a young girl and an avid basketball player, how she ended up being selected among 800 players during the Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska Regional Selection Camp, Jam will tell you right away that it was because of her coaches, including her dad Jaylord Lachica and school coach Joseph Rizos.

As a budding athlete, Jam was always influenced by her father’s interests, including basketball, which led to her love for the sport. Since the age of six, she would tag along with her father’s barangay leagues and closely observe the game. “Lagi akong sinasama ni Papa sa mga laro niya, kaya ginusto ko na rin matutunan yung basketball,” she said.

Fast forward to 2016 when Jam first joined the Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camp wherein she competed with several skilled female players her own age. However, she missed her chance to progress to the camp’s second day after she left to support her dad’s championship game in Quezon City.

But just like a true champion, Jam got back up and tried again in 2017. Knowing that she had been chosen on her first try, the shooting guard had a little more confidence, but unfortunately, she failed to make the cut. “Ginawa ko naman yung best ko para makuha ako ulit kaso madaming ibang magagaling,” she said.

Jam admits to feeling disappointment and in fact, did not consider joining this year’s camp. However, her dad didn’t lose faith and together with coach Rizos encouraged her to join again. Surprisingly, 2018 seemed to be Jam’s lucky year – with the help of AXA, the official insurance partner of the NBA in the Philippines, she had the support that she needed to succeed.

Jam was selected as one of the 16 girls that would represent Metro Manila and compete with peers from the provinces at the National Training Camp. All the hard work and long training hours were worth it. “Sobrang saya at thankful ako na may na-meet akong coach na nag-motivate sa akin to do my best. Buti nalang nandiyan si Papa para bigyan ako ng pag-asa,” she said. After all, third time’s the charm.

With AXA providing proper coaching and support, along with her father and coach’s help, she is now one step closer to reaching her dreams. “Si Papa ang best coach ko. Basta nandiyan siya, kaya kong abutin yung mga pangarap ko,” she said.

NU Pep Squad leads SM Dance at #AweSM “Sweet 60” weekend party

The night could not have been any sweeter as SM celebrated its 60th anniversary with an exciting dance routine, the SM Dance, which was led by the National University (NU) pep squad, at the #AweSM “Sweet 60” weekend party at SM Mega Fashion Hall.

Shoppers were in for more sweet surprises as top singers, Radha, Bituin Escalante and Frenchie Dy belted out a series of entertaining songs. The singers were later joined by Ramonne Rodriguez of The Voice and Annastacia Penny of SM Little Stars for an #AweSM performance of SM’s “We’ve Got It All” jingle.

SM Supermalls COO Steven Tan, SVP for marketing Jonjon San Agustin and SM Megamall AVP for operations Christian Mathay welcomed everyone to the event. Mathay said, “Our #AweSM 60th anniversary celebration officially begins with an #AweSM ‘Sweet 60’ weekend party in all 70 SM malls nationwide. Expect a lot of fun and exciting surprises coming your way during our weekend activities happening from May to October, and watch out for #AweSM deals from food to fashion and other finds.”

As one of the highlights of the event, SM also held a giant logo projection mapping show at SM Megamall’s facade along EDSA.

The #AweSM “Sweet 60” weekend party featured interactive play experience, where shoppers immersed themselves in a fantastic wonderland of colors and desserts. SM Prime executive committee chairman Hans T. Sy, SM Investments Corp. vice chairman Tessie Sy-Coson, SM Markets vice chairman Herbert Sy, and SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. president Elizabeth Sy were present to welcome guests and to lead the anniversary toast.

In her welcome speech, Coson said, “While achieving the milestone of us turning 60 allows us to be nostalgic, it is not the history we are celebrating today. Cole Sprouse in Manila

Cole Sprouse, star of Netflix’s hit coming-of-age drama-thriller “Riverdale,” arrived in Manila on April 18 for a fan meet-and-greet on April 20 at the SM Mega Fashion Hall and Glorietta Activity Center.

A Netflix representative told us that Sprouse’s visit to Manila has nothing to do with Netflix or “Riverdale” as he arrived here through Filipino apparel brand Bench, for which he is an endorser.

On April 19, Cole’s tweet that simply said “Manila Manila Manila!” garnered over 90,000 likes and 14,000 retweets.

Bench owner and founder Ben Chan also shared several photos of Cole upon the latter’s touchdown in Manila.

“It’s official – @colesprouse is here!” said one of Chan’s captions.

“Let’s give @colesprouse a warm welcome to Manila,” another caption read.

Cole is the twin brother of Dylan, and both first became known for respectively playing Cody and Zack in the Disney Channel series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.” The twins’ characters in the series have also appeared other Disney Channel shows like Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana.”

Cole, however, has appeared alone as Ross Geller’s son in the NBC TV sitcom “Friends” and as Billy in the Ashton Kutcher-starrer “That ‘70s Show.”

A graduate of Humanities specializing in Archeology at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study together with his brother, Cole worked briefly in archeological excavations and lab work.

Cole also took photography classes at the New York University and has been commissioned to shoot for Teen Vogue, The Sunday Times Style, and W Magazine, among others.

Since 2017, Cole has been starring as Jughead Jones in the CW TV series “Riverdale,” available in the Philippines through Netflix.

“Planning the shoot for James,” Martine begins, telling us about building the visuals of this campaign. “We thought about bringing back the spirit of our old campaigns way, way back to the beginning of the brand. We would shoot a lot of our images guerilla-style, with a really lean team. The charm of it was not knowing what you’ll get until you get there, capturing a lot of real moments along the way. For James, that’s basically what we did. For the visuals, we were inspired by the soft, sun-dappled lights and the eighties prep vibe from the film Call Me By Your Name – we booked a 12-hour mini vacation to a poolside villa outside of the city. A couple of books, some good food, music, it was a few fun hours spent with James and our photographer Cenon Norial III. Seeing the images now, we think we were able to capture a different side of James, a side that’s closer to something real.”

We first saw him at Mr. Chinatown last 2016 and had a runner -up finish. Wryan Chua a 21 y/o, Fil-Chinese is the one it-boy to look for. From being a cutie, he proves that he is now ready to be Philippine’s next hottie.

It’s so hard not to fall in love with this guy as he has this killer chinito look, rock hard body and his sweet and innocent charm. On top of that he just recently graduated in college with a degree in Tourism Management.

Currently he’s into modelling, mostly in print ads. He had appeared on several magazines such as Candy Magazine, Scene Zone, Inquirer Lifestyle and Cosmopolitan Magazine. He also do have several endorsements such as Move On clothing, American Walker Shoes, Fit Food Manila and Oppo to name a few.  He’s now signed with Viva Artist Agency and his plan is to focus more on entering in the show business.

How Inigo Pascual Labels His Relationship with Maris Racal

“I feel I found my soulmate.”

This was Inigo Pascual’s telling declaration when asked about the status of his relationship with his “special someone” Maris Racal.

“Right now we’re working together, and I’m working as well. If we have something na, we don’t have to force it. If there’s something between us, eh ‘di there’s something between us. Pero we don’t have to force things,” he told PEP.

Pascual noted that they are passionate about the same things when it comes to their career.

“’Yun ang masaya, I was able to share my passion. ‘Yun na lang ang masasabi kong label na lang namin. I feel I am talking to myself when I’m with her, I feel I found my soulmate. Siguro ‘yun ang label ko, soulmate,” he said.

Nonetheless, Pascual categorically stated that he and Racal are not yet a couple.

“We’re not in a relationship, but definitely, I see her as very, very special to me. Very dear to me as a person, as a friend. Someone that I am able to share my passion. Sobra ko siyang naa-appreciate,” he said.

With how things are going for the both of them, Pascual said he doesn’t want to hinder Racal’s growth as an artist.

“She’s on fire right now. Lahat ginagawa niya. She’s on TV, she’s in movies, she’s in the music industry now, she’s number one on iTunes, and I don’t want to be that person that kinda hinders, or kinda blocks that pathway for her,” he said.

Dylan Sprouse Shares That He & Cole Are Working Together, Just Not In The Way You Think

Dylan Sprouse and twin brother Cole Sprouse might not be working together on screen together at the moment, but that doesn’t mean they’re not working together at all.

“The misconception is that we don’t work together now, but we actually very much do, but in a very different way,” the 25-year-old actor shared in his new interview with MTV.

He continues, “Cole and I proofread and bounce ideas off each other 24/7. It doesn’t ever really stop, whether or not it’s an audition tape or tweet or reading my script and [him] telling me what you think of this character.”

Then again, Dylan isn’t opposed to working with Cole on screen again one day. As they’ve both stated before, it has to be a “really, really, really has to be a cool project.”

“It’s easy to stereotype twins into any role,” Dylan adds. “There’s not a lot of great twin roles written and often times when there are, they’re given to a single actor who green screens themselves into both places.

The head-turner from Laguna is making her way to the top! From pageants to edorsements, Fil-Spanish Chariss Jedidiah Gusay or better known as Chedi Gusay proves that she got what it takes to be the next big thing.

She’s a consistent honor student as she valued education for she wants to be successful and when she wants it, she knows she’ll get it. Her eagerness and determination is her key towards achieving what she imagines. Growing up, she always wanted to be a model or a celebrity and we surely know that one day she’ll be it.

When she was a kid, she became a lead role in a musical play and since then music has become her passion. Then she joined several pageants and the fire in her starts to ignite, she always believe that there is a beauty queen inside of her which is why she is working hard to prove herself.

She had won multiple titles such as Bb. Santa Cruz Laguna 2016, Miss Silka-Laguna 2016, Mutya ng Liliw 2017, Queen of Universities-Calabarzon 2017 and Miss Republic of the Philippines 2018. Now she’s into modeling and had several endorsements such as Boardwalk and Metrobank’s Yazz Card. We might see her at fashion shows as she is also a ramp model. She is also trying out acting as she appeared on some TV Shows in ABS-CBN. More than the glitz and the glam, there is a deeper reason as to why she’s doing all of it. She’s the bread winner of her family and she also has to  support her studies because her father was diagnosed with a kidney disease.

But not all good things were happening as it came with a price, her strength was tested when she had an issue with some Kathniel fans when she start posting pictures of her and Teen King Daniel Padilla. Bashers all over her social media accounts starting to destroy and sent her hate messages, but she remained calm and silent as she knows that’s the best thing to do. Instead, she focuses more on organizing outreach programs to help the homeless and out of school youth. She conducts fund-raising to raise money so she and her colleagues can donate simple things such as school supplies. She also promotes fitness as she conducts Zumba sessions. She’s really a beauty with a purpose!

Right now, she’s into travelling. She says she love the beaches as it makes her heart and mind serene. She’s also into travel vlogging and does make-up tutorial so that she can share  the places she’s been to and be able to share her makeup tips. She also added, that she wants to inspire people to not be afraid of taking risks and to just take everything positively.

We asked her about her personal style and she say she’s experimental and loves to try new things. She’s innovative and expressive as she wants to grow and develop as time goes. Dogs are her best friend and even thou she got that perfect body she is still a foodie and loves to try new foods to every place she’s been in.
